Retreat vs. Workation vs. Vacation — What Fits You Best?
All three promise a break from everyday life — but they work in very different ways. A quick comparison.

Retreat
Focused on one specific area (yoga, meditation, creativity), usually with a program and a group. The goal: going deeper into a subject, often with guidance. A good fit if you want to work on something specific — inwardly or practically.
Workation
A change of scenery while work continues — not a vacation in the classic sense, but a quieter setting for your own work. A good fit if you need a clearer head, but your work can't (or shouldn't) come to a complete stop. More on workations at Johann & Anna.
Classic vacation
Relaxation through a dense schedule of experiences — sights, activities, variety. A good fit if you want your everyday life interrupted mainly by new impressions, not by cutting back.
What if none of them quite fits?
Many stays fall somewhere in between — a few days without a fixed program, but also without guidance. That's exactly what a location with no agenda of its own makes possible: as at Johann & Anna in Stainz.
A quick comparison
Retreat: Focused on one subject, usually guided, in a group.
Workation: Work continues, only the location changes, usually solo or in a small team.
Vacation: A dense schedule of experiences takes center stage, with no particular focus.
If you're torn between formats, combining them often works well: a few days without a program, followed by a guided portion — and that, too, is easy to arrange at a location with no agenda of its own.
